There has been a sudden surge of interest in South Korea’s mandatory military service, making it a hot topic in recent times.
Fans from different fandoms are curious to know about their bias’s military enlistment dates.
Why military service?
In South Korea, all non-disabled men between the ages of 18 and 28 are required to serve in the military for approximately 18 to 21 months. However, there are certain exemptions or deferrals based on specific circumstances, such as holding a vital position in the entertainment industry.
Did Rowoon go to the military yet?
As Rowoon was born on August 7, 1996, he falls within the age range for mandatory military service. Generally, K-pop idols and celebrities choose the most appropriate timing for their enlistment to minimize disruption to their careers and group activities.
Some factors that can influence the decision include ongoing projects, group promotions, and individual activities.
In Rowoon’s case it can be said that he has still ‘not’ been sent for military training. The estimated year for the idol’s training is being said to be 2024. Although the agency that manages SF9 has not given an official statement, inner sources confirmed the information.

How many SF9 members have done the military training yet?
As of now, three members of the boyband have dutifully begun their mandatory military service:
#1. Youngbin (Currently Serving)
Youngbin has taken on the role of an active-duty soldier in the 27th Division of the Army.

- Expected discharge date: September 28, 2023
#2. Inseong (Currently Serving)
Inseong was the first member of the band to commence his military service and is serving as a member of the military band.
- Enlistment date: March 29, 2022
- Expected discharge date: September 20, 2023
#3. Jaeyoon (Currently Serving)
Jaeyoon, born in 1994, too slated to fulfill his mandatory military service this year.
- Enlistment date: March 21, 2023
- Expected discharge date: September 9, 2024

How does military service function for K-pop idols?
