Is Derek Carr benched?

The Las Vegas Raiders made a significant choice on Wednesday when head coach Josh McDaniels revealed that starting quarterback Derek Carr will be benched in exchange for Jarrett Stidham.

Given that Carr could have played his final down with the Raiders, this substitution might not only be for the final two games of the regular season.

Vegas can save $30 million if the quarterback is dismissed or moved this coming summer, despite the fact that Carr signed a three-year, $121.5 million deal this past offseason.

The fact that Davante Adams and the veteran Raiders quarterback had previously played together at Fresno State in college was a major factor in Vegas' acquisition of the outstanding wide receiver this summer.

However, that time may have come to an end after only 15 games with the Raiders.

It hasn't all been easy for Adams, who has grabbed 88 catches for 1,290 yards and a league-high 12 touchdowns.

In his previous three games, he has only caught 9 of 25 targets for 114 yards and no touchdowns, and all season, Carr has targeted Adams 16 of 51 times in the fourth quarter.

According to reports from NFL Media, Carr won't even be in the building for the rest of the season in order to prevent distractions.

Coach McDaniels stated that Carr understands the circumstance and that this is an opportunity for a younger man who hasn't played much to earn his shot.
